In his book, Roald Amundsen says :
"We had to acknowledge that Borchgrevink, by ascending the barrier, opened a new path towards the South and removed the major obstacle for future antarctic expeditions. The expedition returned to civilisation in March 1900."
Also to mention is that in Amundsen's home (now museum) in Svartskog (outside Oslo), in his study on the 1st floor, there is a big (and rather empty) desk, with a big portrait (photo - A3) of Carsten Egeberg Borchgrevink.
